Yanhee Dam Foundation
Supporting disadvantaged youth living in remote reservoir areas
Yanhee Dam Foundation
The Yanhee Dam Foundation was established in 2009 and is located at Bhumibol Dam, formerly known by local residents as Yanhee Dam, in Sam Ngao District, Tak Province. It operates under the supervision of the Provincial Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and is registered as a public charity organization. Its main mission is to support education, public health, and community development. The Foundation was established with the vision of giving back to and healing communities affected by, or relocated due to, the construction of the reservoir, as well as assisting people living in remote and rugged mountain areas surrounding the dam.
A core aspect of the Yanhee Dam Foundation's work is its continuous scholarship program for underprivileged and disadvantaged youth living in remote reservoir areas. Rather than providing one-time financial assistance, the Foundation adopts a long-term, comprehensive approach to support students throughout their educational journey.
Support through to graduation: The Foundation selects well-behaved students from severely underprivileged backgrounds starting from Grade 10 (Mathayom 4) and supports them continuously until they complete a bachelor's degree, with a focus on the professions of teachers and nurses/public health personnel.
Full coverage of expenses: To prevent students from leaving the education system due to hidden costs, the scholarship covers tuition fees, tutoring fees, dormitory expenses, student uniforms, as well as living expenses and daily meals.
The "returning graduates" philosophy: This program creates a meaningful cycle of growth for the community. After students are given the opportunity to transform their lives and graduate as teachers or professional nurses, they return to work in their hometowns to help develop local schools and health centers in remote areas.
